We live at a moment in time when the battle, currently a lot more than a hundred years old, has been of overwhelming international societal and governmental importance. From its beginning, this battle has too, naturally, had troubling and powerful consequences for Israelis and Palestinians . The story during its simplest level is the one that involves two peoples fighting for recognition and saying in a small but richly parcel of land. The catastrophe with the history, since both the Israeli novelist, Amos Oz, and the scholar, Sari Nusseibeh, have all pointed out, comes from a battle involving the rights of two peoples together with equal and valid aspirations to nationhood and self expression in a single small land to which they could both put claim.
