Amnesiac and bruised, a handsome man wanders into the little legal office of unlucky Charlotte St. John. Taking good care of him, the good Samaritan falls head over heels in love with this enigmatic angel. As she reciprocates, she discovers a new kind of happiness in her life. When his identity is discovered, their brief love affair comes to an end.. Together, they discover that he has already been married twice. Amnesiac who forgot he had been a bigamist? That's exactly what it is. In spite of her initial disappointment, Charlotte eventually agrees to defend him against the bigamy charges on the grounds that his injuries has erased his previous personality. To defend herself, she researches his past, and discovers that his vindictive wives may have discovered and orchestrated his violent downfall months earlier!
