DARLING in the FRANXX

The narrative takes place in the far future. The countryside is devastated, and the human race constructs the mobile fort city Plantation. Mistilteinn, often known as the "birdcage," is home to pilots created by Plantation. Children there are oblivious to the outer world and the freedom of the sky. Their existence consists of fighting to complete assignments. Their adversaries are unknown enormous beings known as Kyouryuu, and the children pilot robots known as Franxx to combat them. The children's ability to ride the Franxx is evidence of their existence. Hiro's code number is 016, and he was previously considered a prodigy. However, he has fallen behind, and his continued existence is no longer required. Not flying a Franxx is equivalent to nonexistence. One day, the mysterious "Zero Two" girl comes before him. Two horns emerge from her skull.
