Satyamev Jayate
Satyamev Jayate is an Indian tv talk show that aired on various stations within Star Network alongside Doordarshan's DD National. The first season of this show premiered on 6 May 2012 and marked Bollywood actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan's tv screen debut. Work on the 2nd season has now begun.
The show highlights sensitive social problems predominant in India such as female foeticides, child sexual abuse, dowry, medical disease, honour killings, insensitivity towards the disabled, domestic violence, overuse of pesticides resulting in pesticide poisoning, and alcoholism, untouchability, plight of senior citizens and water crisis. While Hindi is the primary language of this show, it was dubbed and simulcast in other languages such as Tamil, Malayalam, Marathi, Bengali and Telugu, and subtitled in English.
Satyamev Jayate received an overwhelming positive response and feedback by the the critics in addition to the people. Several television and film personalities, politicians and social activists appreciated the show because of its own research, format, content and presentation.
