Soldier Soldier
Soldier Soldier is a British television drama show. The name comes from the classic song of the identical name -"Soldier, soldier will you marry me, together along with your musket, fife and drum?" - a worthy version which was used because its theme music.
Manufactured by Central Television and broadcast on the ITV network, it ran for a total of 82 episodes along with seven seasons from 1991 to 1997. It featured friends of soldiers' lives 'B' Company a fictional British Army infantry regiment loosely based on the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. Set in the immediate wake of the Cold War, it is considered an accurate depiction of army life in the early to mid-1990s, once the British Army was experiencing substantial change. This is best demonstrated during the show, around 1994, if a number of real regiments were forced in to amalgamations with eachother thanks to downsizing of the army. From Soldier Soldier's Realm, the King's Fusiliers are forced to amalgamate with another regiment that was fictional, the Cumbrian Regiment, getting the King's Own Fusiliers. At that time Soldier Soldier has been broadcast, and the fatality rate was low with most casualties due to suicides and training accidents. The military in general was assigned than doing any fighting to performing more peacekeeping missions. The show served to depict the army in an lighting that was good.
